F3K #9 Diggers Rest 26 April 2015

Dave (XXL), Jamie (Stream), Nick (XP5 and holding Marcus' RepAerial), Jon (CX3), Hugh (Snipe). Marcus on the camera.

A bleak Melbourne Autumn day greeted six keen starters and it was another excellent hit out for the Aussie F3K team (Marcus, Hugh and Jamie).

A big welcome to Nick who came along for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the day.  He showed great spirit flying his XP5 and had some excellent flights. His 957 points in his first ever Poker attempt and a 2:57 min in the Last 2 round were real highlights. Well flown! With everyone willing to help, I know Nick went away with a huge amount of knowledge and confidence.

Jamie flew his brand new (literally) Streams to great effect and he (and everyone else) is extremely happy with how they flew in the tough 6m/s, gusty, low lift conditions.

Jon had his trusty Vortex 2 flying well until he folded a tip (yes the tip near the blade) and then changed to his CX3.

Hugh had his Snipes performing well but suffered with too many out landings.

Marcus flew his Vibe to great effect in the early rounds but unfortunately launched it straight into Dave's XXL at full pelt and blew both their planes up. I'm very, very sorry Dave. I just did not see him above the rim of my hat. I changed to my trusty 'RepAerial' and reminded myself of how well it still flew.

Dave also suffered from a few out landings but had some great thermal flights and was often on top of the pack.

Huge thanks to all the pilots for making it such a fun day and to Jamie for coming down from Sydney. A great day was had by all.

Cheers,

Marcus
