F3K #3

 20131110_162750

4 pilots made the trip to Longwood and we were greeted by a windy but warm and sunny day. The thermals changed throughout the day as the wind and cloud cover changed and this made for a challenging but rewarding day. There were some great flights, great saves and the obligatory land outs.

Poker was a lot of fun and some friendly rivalry developed between Tim and Hugh which meant we flew a second round of Poker to to see who would have bragging rights. Tim came out slightly in front. Well flown Tim! Jon and Marcus had a rollercoaster 'Last Flight' round where Jon got away and looked like he had a keeper until he landed out, then Marcus looked good until he landed out and then there was a mad scramble to get a decent time in the sink that came through in the end of the slot. Jon ended up winning 1:59 to 1:09! Nice recovery Jon!

We flew a lot of different tasks and had a lot of fun.

Congratulations to:

1st Marcus

2nd Jon

3rd Tim

F3K1 2013-14

Hi all,

The first comp of the new year was F3K (Hand Launch) and it was a lot of fun at Royal Park in the city. The weather was kind to us and it was a beautiful day for a fly.

We flew a number of different taks including Last 2, Ladder, 1234, Last 3 and AULD which made the tactics just as important as the flying.

We spent some time having a relaxing luch where I helped set up Jim's Blaster 3, Hugh sold some planes and we had a visit from Tom Dupuche and Alan Frost who came along for a look and a chat.

A big thanks to Tim for organising the venue and getting the approvals from the council.

A fun day was had by all:

1st Marcus

2nd Hugh

3rd Tim

We had a lot of pilots out enjoying some Open Thermal Jerilderie practice and other than the frequent rain showers a great day was had by all.

Roll on Jerilderie!

F3K#7

7 competitors enjoyed a cool and breezy day of F3K and in particular it was good practice for the Aussie F3K team of Jon, Hugh and Marcus.

1st JonDay

2nd Marcus Stent

3rd Brett Anthony

Jon flew a very clever competition and showed great tactics and clever flying to win the day.

Marcus flew his XXL for the first time and did well, only to be let down by a few tactical mistakes and trying different setups with his new plane

Brett showed he still has the knack with his Salpeters and flew well.

Dave flew well with his Blaster 3.

Hugh suffered from the odd outlanding and some agressive Poker calls that he missed by only a few seconds.

Gerry had a some nice flight.

Tim had a broken boom and lost a few rounds.

A great morning was had by all.
