Thermal #1 Diggers Results and Report

The 2015 - 2016 thermal season got off to a good start on Sunday 13 September.  8 pilots made the trip out to diggers rest and the day started with light winds and a beautiful 24 C. Much better than the forecast had been saying!!

8 pilots allowed us to run 2 groups of 4 which meant we pushed through the rounds quickly at a round every 30 minutes.  The first half of the day saw big thermals and 10 minutes being needed to win the round but after lunch the wind picked up and the last two rounds turned out to be pretty tough.

We managed 8 rounds and at the end of the day the top three were:

1st Theo Arvanitakis - 7946

2nd Marcus Stent - 7879

3rd Jim Houdalakis - 7049

Well done to Theo who had 7 x 1000 and a 946 - a great result as he prepares for the 2016 world champs. Marcus was close behind and Jim was the best of the rest 800 points behind 2nd.

A great day thanks to everyone for making it easy to run. The next thermal event is in Mildura on 10/11 October - the first of the "Grand Tours" for 2015 - 2016.

See you there!!
