A new committee, and more of what you want in the new season..gliding. A link to full minutes is below but a summary of the key changes for the 2016/2017 season are:
Number of events to count towards the Thermal, F3K, F5J league results
The number of events to count towards the Thermal, F3K and F5J leagues will be 50% of the events flown (rounded up if an odd number) - grand champhionship is unchanged.
Previously it was a set number of 5 events. Therefore the number of events to count vs flown is as follows: Count Towards Result / Total Flown (1/1, 1/2, 2/3, 2/4, 3/5, 3/6, 4/7, 4/8, 5/9, 5/10). If 9 or 10 events are flown then the number to count will be 5 as with previous years however this methods allows for a more accurate reflection of the standings midway through the season.
League points system
The points system for the league results will now be as follows: 100 points will be awarded to the competition winner, 99 points for 2nd, 98 points for 3rd and so on. Additionally for every 10 pilots in the event an additional bonus point will be awarded to each pilot. A pilot will be deemed to be 'in the event' if they have posted at least one round score. Pilots who enter a competition but do not post a score will not be included in the calculation for the bonus points. For example if 61 pilots enter an event but only 59 post at least one score then only 59 pilots will be used in the calculation of the bonus points.
Example one of bonus points: If there are 23 pilots in an event then the winner will receive 102 points, 2nd 101 points, 3rd 100 points, etc.
Example two of bonus points: If there are 59 pilots in an event then the winner will receive 105 points, 2nd 104 points, 3rd 103 points, etc.
In the event any of the top 3 pilots are tied on the same points the results will be separated based on the pilot with the most 1st places, if these are equal then the pilot with the most number of 2nd places and so on until the results are separated.
Finally, events that include a fly-off will have the results calculated based on the fly-off results order. Not the prelimiary results order (for those in the fly-off).
Seems complicated but it really isn't!!
